Welcome to Mother Shaheda’s Blog!

Hello and As-salamu Alaykum! I’m hoping many of you know me by now- if not a quick intro!

My name is Shaheda and I am a registered midwife in the UK since 2013 and am insured to practice as a breastfeeding specialist midwife.

I did this role within the NHS for 3 years and absolutely loved it. It allowed me to help women with on-going feeding problems or out of the norm feeding situations such as weight loss, jaundice, mastitis, breast abscesses and so much more.

This prompted me to turn to private practice as I realised that so many of these issues could be avoided if women were better supported and educated antenatally and also had more continuous support postnatally by having access to someone to support this.

Unfortunately, there was no capacity within the NHS to do this which is why I set up my Instagram page @mother.shaheda so women have access to free, non-judgemental information about feeding their baby so they can make informed decision and be guided with no pressure or conflicting advice.

My blog will include topics you may not see me discuss on my Instagram platform where I like to keep information on their professional, factual, beneficial and education to mums.

I like to keep all my platforms filled with positive vibes. This space will be a bit more personal- a bit of a chattier side to me! I will discuss topics that I think about and are more opiniated from my point of view rather than evidence based; this space is literally me writing my thoughts!

I hope you enjoy reading what I have planned to cover. If there is anything you would like to me write about in this space, feel free to email me.
